Okay, Ive lost my mind, we havent even had our 4th of July party and Im already thinking of Kaylee's 2nd birthday! I dont want to do 'princess' or 'Elmo' or anything thats overdone. I want something cute and simple but age appropriate!
So here it is..
The Hungry Caterpillar
Ideas:
Plate, cup, balloon colors - Green and Red
Give each guest a set of antennae made from headbands, pipe cleaners and painted styrofoam balls
read the book to them
Send them on a caterpillar hunt in the yard/house. Print 30 neon colored caterpillars on the computer and hide them in obvious places
Have the kids decorate egg cartons, then add a bent pipe cleaner with curled ends to the front
And/Or
Decorate lunch sacs with potatoes as stamps and craft paint to make caterpillars
Serve 'caterpillar friendly' foods and snacks
Cake: decorate 9 cupcakes with green frosting and string licorice for legs. Decorate one cupcake with red frosting and place gumdrops for the eyes and nose, and red Twizzlers for the antennae.
Gift Bags - include bubbles, color books, playdoh, sticker etc. Use 'lunch sacs'. Possibly include a copy fo the book for the younger kids (check thrift stores or half.com)
